Egyptian Museum
OK…if the Pyramids weren ‘t enough in one day…this topped it off. The thing that is so amazing is that all this stuff is just standing around. There are “Do Not Touch” signs but nobody pays attention. A lot of the small stuff was in exhibit cases covered with glass..but even in the King Tut “Treasures” room the cases were simply closed shut with a screw. No guard, no hermetically sealed chambers, nothin'! Laura and I kinda laughed because one of the pieces of jewelry found in the tomb was labeled with some scribbling on white notebook paper and cut off and put infront of this piece of gold that probably is worth a zillion dollars. Our guide Anwar gave us some really great historical information and servred as our private guide. Mohammed was who knows where....probably chatting with Dr. Phil via cellphone. Anyway, it was just amazing…esp the King Tut stuff. Coffins, within coffins, within boxes within boxes. Gold, gold and more gold. It is hard to believe it is all almost 5,000 years old!! The craftsmanship was just exquisite. We kept thinking that the guy who found this stuff originally must have had a heart attack when he opened all this up. It was just awesome! All the pieces found in his tomb where there. Nothing but a couple pieces of jewelry on loan. Didn’t have to buy tickets or wait in a line…almost too easy! Lucky us! So we had quite an amazing day. Chilling out tonite at the hotel.
